Climatologists have warned of abnormal heat in the coming summer

Scientists believe that due to El Niño, the coming summer will be abnormally hot and humid. This will be especially acute in tropical regions.

Climatologists at the University of California, Berkeley, have revealed what changes in weather El Niño will bring this coming summer. The summer months are expected to beat temperature records. At the same time, increased humidity will be observed.

The anomaly will be felt especially acutely in tropical regions, such as India and most of Africa, Central and South America, Australia. At the same time, there is a high probability that unusually hot will be in Florida with Texas, reports Geophysical Research Letters.

As noted by scientists, this year El Niño enters the maximum phase of fluctuations in the temperature of the surface layer of water in the equatorial part of the Pacific Ocean. The average maximum wet-bulb temperature is expected to rise to 26.2 degrees Celsius, breaking the record for humidity at 68 percent.

Scientists warn that the combination of heat and humidity is a serious stress on the body.

"The higher the humidity, the less sweat evaporates, which reduces the cooling effect and makes it harder for the body to regulate its internal temperature within normal limits," the experts told us.
