Turkey develops six vaccine variants against COVID-19

If the vaccines are successfully tested, Turkey will begin mass production.

Six projects to develop a vaccine against COVID-19, including a nasal spray, are underway in Turkey, the head of the Turkish Institute of Health (TÜSEB), Erhan Akdogan, has said.

ToDay News Ufa quoted Anadolu as saying that the projects are simultaneously underway at six Turkish universities including Erciyes, Yildiz Technical University, Hacettepe, Marmara, Akdeniz and Ataturk. One of the drugs is in the second stage of clinical trials. Scientists are also developing a vaccine in the form of a nasal spray. Human trials have not yet been conducted, but if the vaccines are successfully tested, Turkey will begin mass production.

In Turkey, vaccination against COVID-19 began in mid-January with a Chinese vaccine from Sinovac Biotech.
