Chinese scientists have made a discovery in unmanned aviation. They invented drones that can fly indefinitely while receiving power from the ground.
The energy is transmitted to the photovoltaic module of the drone using a laser. A neural network controls the laser, the technology can be used in any weather.
Moreover, lasers can charge not only single drones, there can be several of them. The technology was developed by scientists from Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU).
The military is already interested in the technology. In addition, it is being considered by rescuers during the search for people trapped during floods or cut off in the mountains. "Eternal" drones will be able to control traffic and patrol the area.
Such drones can stay in the air for about half an hour for now. Engineers are now working to keep drones in the air continuously for weeks or months at a time.
