Scientists conducted a 20-year study involving 3,200 subjects between the ages of 32 and 62. During this time, 233 participants of the experiment died. During the experiment, each participant's wrinkle level was measured from zero (no wrinkles) to 3 (high wrinkle level).

The study found that statistically, the presence of wrinkles significantly increases the chance of dying at a young age. Multiple wrinkles greatly increased the risk of early mortality, while the lack of wrinkles was associated with longevity. For example, people who died at a young age were 10 times more likely to have many forehead wrinkles. The experiment also took into account other factors, such as age, the presence of bad habits and blood pressure.

Scientists reported that the pattern obtained can be explained by the fact that the presence of deep and numerous wrinkles indicates a tendency to problems with the heart and blood vessels, so that such people die earlier.
