Scientists said that even during sedentary work, it is possible to burn glucose and fat by performing simple exercises. As it turned out, the flounder muscle has such abilities.

According to a paper by researchers from the University of Houston, published in the journal iScience, this muscle is located at the back of the shin and is only 1% of body weight. It is involved in standing and walking.

Although the muscle is small, it can increase the amount of fat burned by 52% and reduce insulin requirements by 60% by doubling the rate of carbohydrate oxidation.

The exercise to train this muscle is done in a sitting position. To do this, press the front of the foot to the floor and the heel away from the floor. When you reach the maximum amplitude, lower the heel down.

Scientists believe that as little as 15 minutes of this exercise a day will help people reduce the damage from sedentary work and improve metabolic processes in the body.
