Russia has developed the world's fastest food toxicity analyzer

The world's first rapid method for detecting nitrobenzene has been created.

Ural Federal University scientists, together with other Russian researchers, have developed the world's first rapid method for detecting nitrobenzene, a dangerous toxin that can contaminate honey and other popular foods. Honey is most susceptible to contamination because hives are treated with insecticides against mites.

According to the creators of the development, this method is distinguished by an unprecedented accuracy of analysis. The work of scientists is published in the Food chemistry edition.

Nitrobenzene is the most dangerous compound with strong carcinogenic and mutagenic effects. It is widely used in the chemical industry as a solvent and is difficult to chemically neutralize. UrFU specialists believe that controlling the content of this substance in the environment and in foodstuffs is an essential part of environmental monitoring.
