Chinese developers presented an engine for hypersonic ships that runs on the basis of coal powder. This fuel is 20% cleaner than usual mixtures and also has higher efficiency. It is planned to mix coal powder with ethylene vapor to ignite the fuel and start a chain of detonations.
Scientists from Nanski University presented a system that is six times faster than the speed of sound. This type of engine is applicable for flying hypersonic aircraft, as well as at other speeds.
