Scientists at the University of Queensland have found a way at the testing stage to predict the course of covid

The results of the study are published in EMBO Molecular Medicine.

Scientists at the University of Queensland in Australia have found a new way to predict the severity of the course of covid based or hfwe-Lose, reports MedicalXpress.

According to Dr. Arut Kulasinghe, it was found that covid patients with acute lung injury had higher levels of the biomarker in the lower airways and areas of cell death. The hfwe-Lose marker is superior to conventional ways of predicting severe covid, such as inflammation, comorbidities, and age.

According to the specialist, the results of this study may be useful in the early triage of covid patients because the hfwe-Lose marker can be detected with a simple nasal swab. The hfwe-Lose marker will enable medical teams to identify infected people at risk of developing severe symptoms and provide them with earlier access to hospitalization and intensive care.
