Scientists in Sweden suggest greater use of environmentally friendly renewable materials and energy sources.
The Guardian, citing scientists from the Stockholm Center for the Study of Environmental Sustainability and the University of Gothenburg, reported that a safe level of chemical pollution has been exceeded on Earth.
“The rate at which societies both produce new chemicals and release them into the atmosphere exceeds the legal limits within which safe life on Earth is possible,” said expert and study participant Patricia Villarubia-Gomez.
Scientists say that chemical pollution threatens the planet at all levels and this is the fifth major blow to the Earth's ecology. They explained that the first four are global warming, biodiversity destruction, and phosphorus and nitrogen pollution.
