The drug semaglutide, which was developed by the Danish company Novo Nordisk and was previously used against diabetes, is recognized as safe if used to treat obesity.

The drug will be used in the fight against overweight. Tests have shown that obese people who received weekly injections of semaglutide for 16 months were able to lose 14.9% of body weight.
The drug had virtually no side effects, so it was considered safe.
