Scientists from Nara University: Tannin in Persimmon Effective Against COVID-19

Persimmon contains a large amount of vitamins and minerals that strengthen the immune system.

Scientists from Nara Medical University in Kashihara, Japan, conducted a study and found the therapeutic properties of persimmons that help with coronavirus, reports faktom.ru.

Researchers found that persimmon tannin reduces the likelihood of infection with COVID-19 and the serious course of the disease.

During the experiment, tannin was given to laboratory rodents. Hamsters who were not given the substance had a higher viral load and signs of pneumonia after three days. The scientists' findings are reported in Scientific Reports.

Persimmon is valued because of its high content of vitamins A, C, B1, B2 and B3, as well as phosphorus, calcium, iron and sodium. The presence of potassium and magnesium in the fruit is considered protection against cancer and heart disease.
