The head of the state corporation «Roscosmos» Dmitry Rogozin announced the upcoming mission to Venus. Russia is going to send its own aircraft there.
"We are developing the Venus-D project together with the United States, but we also plan to send our own mission to the second planet from the Sun. We believe that Venus is a Russian planet. Projects for its development are included in the state program of space activities of Russia for 2021-2030 years," said Dmitry Rogozin at the HeliRussia-2020 exhibition.
The head of Roscosmos also noted that the conditions on Venus are "hellish." "Russia is the only country has been to Venus. According to the results of research conducted there, the planet is a living hell," Dmitry Rogozin added.
Scientists at Cardiff and Massachusetts Universities of Technology have found phosphine on Venus that can change biological origin. It is generated by microorganisms that do not use oxygen for breathing.
The Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the mission to Venus will be funded from the state budget.
