Russian scientists have created drug that regenerates cells after chemotherapy

Novosibirsk scientists have created a drug from the birch bark, which contributes to the regeneration of cells of many organs after chemotherapy.

According to RIA News, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, scientists of the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry named after N.N. Vorozhtsov of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences managed to develop a drug based on betulinic acid, which is obtained from birch bark.

The new drug is able to regenerate cells of the liver, kidneys, lungs, bone marrow, as well as contribute to reducing the toxic effects of chemotherapy and antibiotic therapy.

The drug was called "Betoxovit". According to scientists, it is primarily aimed at protecting internal organs from the toxic effects of chemotherapeutic agents that are used in the treatment of chronic diseases.
