Russia will spend 4 billion rubles on development of space tug

Russia intends to spend more than four billion rubles on the development of a nuclear-powered space tug for flights to other planets of the solar system.

The data of Roscosmos on the public procurement website say that the Russian Federation will create a nuclear-powered space tug for flights to other planets.

In July, the general director of the state corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said that work on this project is actively moving forward.

The data say that the development of a pilot project to create a space complex will require 4.2 billion rubles. It will be created with a transport and energy module based on a nuclear power plant as part of the development work of Nucleon.

Currently, Roscosmos experts are creating a transport and energy module (TEM) with a megawatt-class nuclear power plant.

They plan to build a technical complex for development of satellites with TEM at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, and put it into operation in 10 years, in 2030.
