Japanese scientists from the University of Kyoto Prefecture have created a protective mask that glows when in contact with particles of the coronavirus.
Scientists have created an antibody-based protective filter. It was treated with a fluorescent dye and then put into a mask. This is reported by the Kyodo News edition.
Upon contact with virus particles, the surface of the mask begins to glow in the ultraviolet spectrum. The effectiveness of the development has been confirmed in several large-scale experiments.
“In the future, we plan to turn the mask into a simple test kit that anyone can use,” said study leader Yasuhiro Tsukamoto.
