Scientists: people could start dying out in tropics due to warming

Climate scientists at Princeton University have conducted a study in which they found that a rise in temperatures caused by global warming could lead to extinction of people in tropical regions.

Experts have studied several models of climate change and concluded that with an increase of one and a half degrees the temperature in the tropics can reach 35 degrees, which is the limit of human body adaptation.

The experts explained that they made the calculations according to a "wet thermometer", which demonstrates what internal temperature the human body will aim for, taking into account perspiration. The efficiency of evaporative cooling is inversely proportional to air humidity.

It follows that in this scenario, people who live in regions between 20 degrees north and 20 degrees south would not be able to withstand temperatures higher than 35 degrees, so they would experience hyperthermia, and this could eventually lead to their extinction.
