Scientists from the United States have found an unexpected property of SARS-CoV-2. According to them, coronavirus can numb the pain.
Experts from the United States found that coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 can numb the pain. The results of their study were published in the journal “Pain”.
As the scientists explained, the effect of anesthesia arises due to the compound of S-protein, which ensures the penetration of coronavirus into human cells, with the ACE2 receptor and other substances.
Impaired transmission of pain-responsible signals occurs with the participation of neuropilin-1 and VEGF-A, another protein that is a factor in vascular endothelial growth.
Thus, American experts have identified the probable cause of asymptomatic COVID-19, in which the patient almost does not notice a deterioration in health.
The researchers intend to study the properties of neuropilin-1 in more detail, since its properties may be useful for anesthesiologists.
