Scientists succeed to connect human brain to wireless network

In this way, science hopes to help immobile people.

A team of BrainGate scientists in the USA have managed to connect the human brain to a computer system wirelessly for the first time. Such interface is able to capture and decode signals in the brain and transmit them to external devices without using a wired connection.

The interface works thanks to a chip implanted in the patient's cortex. Traditionally, such devices used wires to transmit the signal. However, scientists have managed to replace them with a small transmitter, which will make it possible to use such systems not only in laboratory conditions.

In the future, scientists hope to achieve functional applications of such devices for decoding mental signals into instructions, such as for a robotic arm, and for restoring mobility in people with various diseases or injuries.
