Scientists have found out that the abuse of sweets and ultra-processed food makes a person's face less attractive to others. This was found out during an experiment with volunteers.

Thus, scientists from the University of Montpellier chose 104 men and women aged 20 to 30 years and assigned them a random type of breakfast.

Some had a breakfast rich in refined carbohydrates, while others ate food with a low glycemic index.

Volunteers were photographed daily and then their pictures were rated on attractiveness criteria.

As a result, those who ate sweets and ultra-processed foods seemed less attractive to others. The effect was observed regardless of gender.

Scientists suggested that food with a high glycemic index has a negative effect on blood circulation, which affects the complexion of the skin.

As for the attractiveness of those who ate healthier foods, the scientists attributed the effect to the fact that foods high in fat and protein do not cause rapid glycemic reactions, which increases perceived attractiveness.
