The machine was installed at the medical facility last year. It allows minimally invasive surgeries. The robot arm, guided by a surgeon, makes more precise and less extensive incisions.

A 61-year-old British man used the Versius robot to remove a 6-centimeter-long cancerous tumor in his throat.

Doctors note that the robotic surgeon has fewer complications after surgery, reduces the risk of scarring, and decreases the intensity of postoperative pain.

Another advantage of using the robot, the doctors say, is the reduction of surgery time.

The device consists of three modules, which imitate the movements of the surgeon's hand and wrist via remote control.

Gloucestershire Royal Infirmary was the first in the country to use the robot in its work.
