Scientists have conducted research and found that these birds are able to solve problems as effectively as crows and parrots.
Seagulls, despite their small brain size, are capable of solving tasks that require ingenuity. Scientists came to this conclusion after conducting a study in several colonies of wild gulls in Canada, Science Alert reported.
During the study, scientists decided to use a test: gulls had to pull a string to get a reward in the form of food. It is noted that about 90% of birds coped with the test, but most of them - parrots and crows.
About 25% of attempts for gulls were also successful. At the same time, 21% of birds passed the test the first time. This is a very good figure, considering that crows were only five percent better.
