Harvard University Scientists Discovered Weight Gain Control Hormone

A hormone called ghrelin is responsible for sending hunger signals to the brain. Therefore, normalizing the level of this hormone can contribute to weight loss. According to the publication Al Arabiya (UAE), scientists have identified a link between the secretion of ghrelin and body mass index.

Inadequate ghrelin levels, high blood pressure, the risk of diabetes and the appearance of dangerous fatty deposits in the abdomen are all related factors, as experts have found. Scientists believe that by controlling the secretion of ghrelin it is possible to reduce weight and protect the body from many of the problems associated with obesity.

Experts looked at data from nearly three hundred obese volunteers, and found that obese people tend to have low levels of ghrelin during fasting. At the same time, low ghrelin correlated with increased blood pressure, as well as with an overall high probability of developing diabetes. How do you increase your ghrelin levels? To do this, according to Iris Shay, assistant professor of nutrition at Harvard University, you need to get rid of excess weight.

"The results of our research show that the fight against obesity itself will help to normalize the level of ghrelin. It is very important to monitor your weight in order not only to normalize hormonal levels, but also to improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and liver," the specialist noted.
