Catalyst has been developed to reduce carbon monoxide emissions

Its peculiarity is that it is effective at low temperatures.

Scientists have created a catalyst to reduce the amount of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. Scientists from the Novosibirsk Institute of Catalysis and specialists from the University of Barcelona have taken part in developing the device.

According to the scientists, a significant number of hazardous substances get into the air during the start of car engines at low temperatures, because the catalysts installed in them in these conditions work less efficiently.

The new development is intended to solve this problem: the platinum-cerium catalyst is capable of oxidizing carbon monoxide at -50°C.
