Botanists knew of many chameleon flowers, but none of them could change its color so many times.

Researchers were able to discover such a plant using time-lapse video when it was filmed at different times. They observed how the color of Causonis japonica (Causonis japonica) began to change from orange to bright pink and vice versa.

Scientists originally planned to see the color change from orange to bright pink. Such a process was due to the pollination of different species of Japanese cauzonis. However, they couldn't believe their eyes when the video showed the flower not only turning orange again, but also making swings between two different colors.

Studies have shown that this unusual phenomenon is due to the peculiarities of the reproductive system. When the stamen falls, the color changes to pink, and when the pistil grows, it becomes orange.

Specialists are trying to figure out the genetic mechanisms of the color change, as well as to conduct further research.
