Photo cameras hidden in the ice of Mount Lucainia were found by an expedition that visited there in 1937.
In Canada, cameras that were hidden there 85 years ago have been found on the slope of Mount Lucainia. According to the Alpine Journal, a Teton Gravity Research team climbed the mountain on the trail of an expedition led by explorer Bradford Washburn in 1937.
After conquering the mountain's summit, Bradford Washburn's team had to abandon cameras and climbing equipment in the ice to make a safe descent. The search team has now found three abandoned cameras. They were in a cache that had shifted 19 kilometers from its original point over the years, on the Walsh Glacier in Kluane National Park and Preserve.
As the scientists noted, the photos of the mountain taken 85 years ago are of great value because they provide real data for calculating glacier movement.
