The governor of the Northern Capital expressed doubts about the need to seize the assets of the head of the «Wagner» PMC.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov believes that there is no need to seize the assets of the head of the "Vagner" Eugene Prigozhin PMC after the mutiny, the official was quoted by TV channel 78.ru.
Beglov stressed that there is no reason for this, as the owner has a right to his property, and the authorities treat it with respect. If there are legitimate violations, then we should let law enforcement authorities deal with this issue, added the head of the city.
In addition, Beglov noted the effective work of law enforcement agencies in St. Petersburg during the riot. In his opinion, the measures taken helped to prevent the emergence of various conflict situations.
Recall that the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the beginning of the mutiny on the night of June 24. He accused the Russian military of attacking the company's rear camps. After lengthy negotiations with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, which lasted all day, Prigozhin announced the deployment of equipment from Moscow and the return of Wagner fighters to field camps.
According to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the head of the PMC will leave Russia and go to Belarus. In connection with this, the FSB terminated the investigation into the armed mutiny that had been launched against Prigozhin.
