Last weekend a 14-year-old boy was hospitalized from an apartment on Prosveshchenie Avenue in St. Petersburg with a ruptured rectum due to overeating.
A 14-year-old schoolboy from St. Petersburg, who overeated while visiting his grandmother, was urgently taken to the hospital on December 27.
Law enforcers established that after a heavy lunch the boy complained to his grandmother of severe abdominal pain. The 62-year-old pensioner called his mother and then decided to take her grandson to the children's city hospital № 7. After examination the boy was taken to the pediatric institute.
Now the state of the schoolboy is assessed by doctors as serious, he was diagnosed with a rupture of sigmoid colon and acute peritonitis. The boy remains in intensive care.
Meanwhile, investigators are trying to clarify the circumstances of the trauma of the schoolboy. The criminal nature of the incident is not ruled out, but the boy's mother denies it.
Commenting on the incident, gastroenterologist Peter Tkachenko noted that such a case is rare. Such serious consequences could be caused by intestinal congestion or inflammatory disease of the internal organs.
