Tourist industry experts expect an increased flow of tourists from Iran to St. Petersburg in spring. This was announced by the head of the city Tourist Information Bureau Yuri Bogdanov.

It is expected that every week about two thousand Iranians will arrive in St. Petersburg. This is due to the fact that negotiations are currently underway with Iranian airlines for direct flights to and from St. Petersburg.

"We hope there will be six frequencies a week with an average number on board of about 300 passengers," Bogdanov said.

He noted that before the closure of borders during the covid pandemic, there were more flights from Iran, and St. Petersburg was visited by six thousand tourists each.
