Georgian Airways announced the launch of direct flights on the St. Petersburg - Tbilisi route starting December 10.
The flights will be operated twice a week - on Wednesdays and Sundays. The plane will depart from Pulkovo airport at 04:55 and arrive at Shota Rustaveli airport at 09:30, the flight will take 3 hours and 35 minutes.
This is not the first case of opening flights to Georgia from Russia in recent years. Earlier Red Wings air carrier also started flights to the capital of Georgia, and in December it is planned to launch flights to Kutaisi.
Notably, the first direct flight to Georgia from Russia in four years was launched in May after Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on air travel with Georgia. However, the move sparked protests in Georgia and Ukraine imposed sanctions against Georgian Airways. In response, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili announced a boycott of the airline, and the carrier itself banned the politician from boarding its planes.
