In total, the northern capital was visited by more than 4 million tourists.
The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov announced the recovery of tourist flow in the city after the pandemic, writes "Interfax". At the session of the city government he noted that St.-Petersburg is one of the leaders in Russia in tourism restoration.
In the first half of the year the number of tourists in St. Petersburg exceeded 4 million, which is 10% more than last year, said the Mayor.
Head of the committee on tourism development Sergey Korneev added that the Ministry of Economic Development predicts that by the end of 2023 the tourist flow in Russia will increase by 5,2%, and in St. Petersburg - by 7,5%. Projected number of tourist arrivals to the city will be 8.7 million.
St Petersburg is ahead of schedule and is now ahead of forecasts. The share of return visits to the city has increased from 25% to 40%, said Korneev. This demonstrates the growing attractiveness of the city and the positive experience that travelers have gained during previous visits.
By the way, in 2022 the total number of tourists to the Northern Capital was more than 8 million. Tourism has had a significant impact on the economy of St. Petersburg, bringing about 370 billion rubles, which is 57% higher than in 2021.
Recall that earlier in the Finnish Consulate General in St. Petersburg there were problems with mobile communication.
