Six tons of products in which botulism could be present were destroyed in St. Petersburg

The company's products, which had already caused an outbreak of botulism in Moscow, were withdrawn from the shelves and warehouses of retail chains in the city. Previously, this disease had not been contracted through products from stores.

Igor Ivulenok, head of the department for supervision over products in circulation at the St. Petersburg Department of Rospotrebnadzor, told reporters that about six tons of food products produced by Savon-K LLC were seized in St. Petersburg.

There are reasonable suspicions that they may be the source of botulism. It is known that in Moscow the outbreak of the disease was caused by the products of this very company. In particular, people were infected through canned beans.

The representative of Rospotrebnadzor said that the city's retail chains were informed of the danger, after which the food products were seized and destroyed. It is noted that in St. Petersburg annually recorded sporadic cases of botulism, but all of them have a private domestic nature.

Earlier it was reported that in Bashkiria five children went to the hospital with food poisoning.

From Moscow hospitals have already discharged 177 people, in whom botulism was previously detected.
