It has become known that Toyota Motor is winding down its production in St. Petersburg. In this case, the manufacturer promises to fulfill all social obligations to the labor collective, to assign additional compensation payments to employees. The company will also retain after-sales service of Toyota and Lexus cars, support of the dealer network, said the press service of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
At the present time the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and St. Petersburg government are thinking over the options of further development of this site.
The Labor and Employment Committee of St. Petersburg reported that the Employment Service has not received any notification from the company about staff reduction. However, Employment Center is ready to help all laid off workers to find a new job, if they need it.
Toyota Motor plant was opened in Saint-Petersburg in 2007. Disruptions in the supply of components, which occurred in March of this year, forced the company to suspend its work in the city on the Neva.
