St. Petersburg recognized as Russia's second city in terms of quality of life

The city lost the first place to Moscow, but surpassed Tatarstan and the Tyumen Region.

The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) of Russia has reported that by the end of 2023 St. Petersburg is second only to Moscow in terms of quality of life. The first lines of the rating, in addition to the already named cities, were occupied by the Tyumen Region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Tatarstan.

The compilers of the rating state that in St. Petersburg for the past year it became 17% easier to arrange a child in kindergarten, in school - by 11%, with various circles and sections the situation has improved by 20%. The situation with parking areas has improved by 8%. It is also stated that the citizens are 5.5% more satisfied with housing conditions. More than two-thirds are satisfied with the quality of social services.

On May 6 it was reported that since 2020 the cost of new buildings in St. Petersburg has increased by almost 100%. At the same time, despite the constant price growth, developers continue to save on the area of apartments and the quality of building materials.

It was also noted that hotels and hotels in St. Petersburg have significantly increased in price. Moreover, the most mass rooms went up in price more than elite five-star rooms.
