The owners of more than 50 different catering establishments have signed an appeal to the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov asking him to lift the ban on night work for catering establishments.
Restaurateurs are asking the authorities not to ban night work or explain why it is after 23.00 the virus is particularly dangerous.
"We are now appealing to the governor of the city. If the governor responds to us in a way we are not satisfied with, we will appeal to the federal authorities," said Kirill Maistrov, one of the activists of the restaurateurs' initiative group.
