Denis Chetyrbok, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, said that the Budget and Finance Committee of St. Petersburg supports the idea to fine tourists from 500 to 2,000 rubles for non-payment of the resort fee. Previously, visitors could evade paying it, but now it will be regulated by law with appropriate sanctions for its violation.

Chetyrbok added that 200 thousand tourists paid the resort fee in April, thus bringing 41.5 million rubles to the city treasury. This money, directed to the Fund for the development of resort infrastructure, should go to support the tourist infrastructure.

The resort fee was introduced on April 1. Now for accommodation in a hotel, sanatorium and apart-hotel it is necessary to pay an additional 100 rubles per day, but there are 21 categories of citizens who do not pay the new fee. Among them are students, migrant workers and minors.

Earlier it was reported that Dmitry Galkaev headed the Committee for the development of transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg.

May 20 it was reported that over the past weekend the city police revealed more than 200 violations of drifters gathered on Krestovsky Island.
