Unfavorable weather conditions and poor-quality cleaning of St. Petersburg roads from snow and ice led to 392 traffic accidents over the past day.
According to a source in law enforcement agencies, there were 392 car accidents in the northern capital during the day. The number of victims is not reported. The main cause of accidents was icy condition, intensified due to warming.
With the onset of winter and the formation of ice on the road surface in St. Petersburg, hundreds of accidents are recorded daily. Such an increase in the number of accidents is largely due to the inability of public utilities to clean roads from snow and ice, and lack of organization and control of the process by the city administration.
The situation may worsen by Thursday evening.
