Dmitry Vanchkov, deputy chairman of the City Committee on Transport, noted that about 900 accounts of users of electric scooters on a rental basis. In addition, 2,000 fines were issued.

The main violations when using electric scooters are riding in pairs, high speed, which creates a danger to other traffic, and improper parking. Scooter users do not take their scooters from base stations, but drop them at traffic stops and simply on the sidewalk.

For now, the status of the electric scooter as a vehicle is not enshrined in the traffic code, and so law enforcement officers cannot prosecute violators and cut off minors from using the powerful microtransport.

However, there is hope that by the end of 2022, electric scooters will get the necessary status.
