St. Petersburg plans to build a new large zoo in addition to the existing one

This was announced by the Vice-Governor of the city Boris Piotrovsky. He noted that the Leningrad Zoo is the smallest in Europe and needs to be expanded.

Boris Piotrovsky, vice-governor of St. Petersburg, said that the city is working on a project to reconstruct the Leningrad Zoo, which should take place gradually while preserving the appearance of this architectural monument.

He noted that the animals in it are kept in accordance with all norms and rules. As an example, he cited a 20-year-old giraffe, which is difficult to socialize and therefore has its own separate enclosure.

In addition, the official reminded that the city authorities have not abandoned plans to build a new large zoo in addition to the existing “chamber” zoo. Leningrad zoo is the smallest in Europe.
