The head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova announced the creation of an analog of «Eurovision» in the Russian Federation.
Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova announced plans to create a new music competition, Intervision, in front of heads of official foreign delegations at the IX St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The initiative will be part of Russia's efforts to promote cultural diversity in a global context.
The Russian Federation proposes two new formats of cooperation: an open Eurasian film festival with a film award and the Intervision music contest, Lyubimova emphasized.
General Director of Channel One Konstantin Ernst noted that there will be no political restrictions in this contest, as it is an open platform where all countries can present samples of their popular music.
Russia did not take part in Eurovision in 2022 and 2023 after the decision of the organizers to suspend the country because of the events in Ukraine.
