On Wednesday, December 14, Dmitry Cherneiko, the chairman of the Committee on Labor and Employment of the city, said during a press conference that St. Petersburg has a shortage of IT-specialists as well as staff in industry and manufacturing sector.
According to Cherneiko, now the staff shortage in IT is 15 thousand people, and next year a deficit of up to 17.4 thousand employees is expected.
In industry and manufacturing industry there is a shortage of 5,000 employees each. Next year's shortage forecast will be at the same level.
The head of the city's Labor Committee said the problem can be solved by raising the working age, attracting employees of early age. It is also possible to reduce the shortage of staff through increased productivity.
As TASS notes, a national project has begun to work, which included 170 enterprises of the Northern Capital.
According to Cherneiko, this will help to solve the personnel issue.
