Area of fire at Nevskaya Manufaktura in St. Petersburg has grown to 10,000 square meters

Two firefighters who were injured while rescuing people are in serious condition. They received burns of up to 50% of their bodies.

The area of the fire in the building of Nevskaya Manufaktura in St. Petersburg, which has been extinguished for several hours, has increased to 10 thousand square meters. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The roof and ceilings in the burning building collapsed on an area of 1,500 square meters. Nearly 350 MES officers and about 70 units of equipment, including aviation, are fighting the fire.

According to TASS with reference to medical services of St Petersburg, the condition of two firemen, who were injured while escaping from the building, is serious - both suffered burns on 50% of the body surface. A third firefighter from the group that was cut off by the fire in the building died on the spot.

In the building, according to the SPARK database, during an inspection from 15 February to 16 March, the Ministry of Emergency Situations found nine violations of fire safety requirements - including the absence of an alarm system.
