The Crimean city is currently the leader in Russia in terms of collective immunity to coronavirus infection. In Sevastopol, 83.7% of residents have already been vaccinated. At the end of the second week of December, the Crimean city surpassed not only Moscow, but also St. Petersburg.
"The level above 72% is demonstrated by the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Karelia, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Tyva, the Moscow Region, Moscow," said the headquarters for the fight against coronavirus.
Smolny, under the leadership of Governor Alexander Beglov, reported that herd immunity had reached 74.3%. For the convenience of the population, more than 180 main vaccination centers and 53 mobile ones operate within the boundaries of the Northern capital. According to the head of the region, on New Year's holidays they will work normally, except for December 31, January 1 and 7.
However, St. Petersburg residents are in no hurry to get vaccinated due to distrust of the authorities. This is evidenced by the pace of the campaign. Smolny planned to vaccinate 60% of the population by the fall, but this figure was not achieved.
