Users in social networks from St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and Karelia, report that they have seen the same in their regions. One eyewitness said that when the luminous objects appeared in the village, the lights went out for a while.
Some witnesses suggested that these were traces of meteorites, while others thought they were ball lightning. Eyewitnesses said that the unusual phenomenon was accompanied by a bright green flash and a loud crackle.
Astronomers suggest that it was most likely a bolide, a bright meteor.
