Citizens of Belarus organized protest in front of consulate in St. Petersburg

On August 9 some citizens of Belarus could not get to the polling station in the St. Petersburg consulate.

According to the publication " Fontanka.ru," yesterday, August 9, at 20:00, a representative of the election commission came to the crowd at the consulate of Belarus in St. Petersburg and said that the station was closing.

Many citizens of Belarus had stood in line from the very morning, but could not vote. According to observers, a little more than three hundred people voted. In this regard, discontented Belarusians launched protest in front of the consulate.

Volunteers in the crowd collected signatures on the complaint, which says that their rights were violated - there was only one polling booth at the polling station.

Then, after the closure of the site, law enforcement officers arrived at the consulate. The police asked the protesters to disperse, without taking any concrete actions.

By nine o'clock the crowd had calmed down and had mostly dispersed.
