The first camera to monitor violations on dedicated streetcar tracks has appeared in St. Petersburg. The device operates at the intersection of Gidrotechnikov Street and Polytechnicheskaya Street in the Kalininsky district of the city. According to the press service of the city committee on transport, this measure is aimed at ensuring safety and compliance with the rules on the roads.
The camera is installed on the site where streetcar route No. 55, which is included in the list of 15 high-speed lines of public transportation, operates. Its main function will be fixation of traffic violations on the allocated streetcar lanes, including speeding, passing on the forbidden signal of a traffic light and crossing of a stop line.
Also earlier the city administration started looking for a contractor to install 4,250 video surveillance cameras at more than 1,500 addresses. The project involves an investment of 2 billion rubles and is aimed at improving overall traffic safety in the city.
Recall that earlier the speaker of the St. Petersburg Zaksoobraniya Alexander Belsky promised to transfer deputies to new LADA from next year.
