St Petersburg closed St. Isaac's Cathedral and colonnade to visitors

St Isaac's Cathedral and the colonnade were closed on Tuesday, February 9. The reason is electricity supply work.

On Tuesday, February 9, St Petersburg's Saint Isaac's Cathedral and its colonnade were closed. This was announced by the press service of the museum. It is noted that work has been suspended for reasons beyond the control of the museum.

On Tuesday, February 9, due to technical reasons which do not depend on the museum, the Memorial Museum "St. Isaac's Cathedral" and its colonnade were closed. At the same time, the Church of the Savior on Blood is functioning normally, according to the press service.

The timing of when the problems will be fixed and the cathedral will reopen its doors to visitors is not reported.

Citizens were reminded that visitors to Saint Isaac's Cathedral need to observe safety measures due to the covid. Excursions are conducted for groups of no more than 5 people. It is also allowed to visit the museum on their own. The main thing is that masks must be worn to enter the cathedral, and visitors must maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 metres indoors.
