The overall industrial production index (IPI) in St. Petersburg from January to May 2025 was 106.8% compared to the first five months of 2024. Different industries differ greatly. For example, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers were produced by 23.6%, and vehicles and equipment by 16.8%.
But the highest growth rate was shown by the jewelry industry. IPI in this industry was 213%. From January to May 2025, jewelry and bijouterie worth a total of 20.6 billion rubles were shipped. This is 250% more than was recorded by the Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade last year for the same period.
Earlier it was reported that on July 6, some stores in St. Petersburg were forced to switch to cash only.
The cost of tuition at universities in St. Petersburg is rising at almost the same rate as in Moscow.
