Walking around festive St. Petersburg is accompanied by the risk of drowning in mud

Warmth came to the city, and Petersburgers who decided to take a walk in the center in the middle of the New Year vacations, fully felt the dissatisfaction of snow removal, generously «shared» with them by Governor Alexander Beglov, whose duties include the cleaning of the city.

The streets of the city were filled with an icy mess of melting snow, forcing them to overcome obstacle courses on the sidewalks and embankments.

 

The pedestrian part of the Fontanka is not in the best condition. The sidewalks are either mush or thawed ice with cold water underneath.

 

As well as the pedestrian crossing on Belinsky Street, which looks like it’s easier to swim across than to cross.

 

According to experts, tomorrow the cold weather will return to the city, therefore, all the luxury presented by subscribers will freeze, turning St. Petersburg into a skating rink. Doctors and specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with Smolny officials, warn about the need to be careful when leaving the house.
