A rare natural phenomenon - northern lights could be observed in St. Petersburg on the night of March 4.
The aurora borealis appeared over the northern districts of the city and the Leningrad Region. The phenomenon was predicted in advance, so many residents of the region were ready for it and were able to capture the glow on photos and videos. The first messages and videos users began to post on the network just after midnight.
In addition to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the Northern Lights were observed in Moscow and the Moscow region, Kaliningrad, Tver and other regions of Russia. "A magnetic storm of moderate magnitude began in the evening of March 3. To the Earth "came masses of matter ejected from the Sun on the night of February 28-29," the laboratory said in a statement.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, the amazing natural phenomenon will visit the regions of Russia more than once. With a high degree of probability it should be expected in Siberia and in the European part of the country.
