The day of April 1 in St. Petersburg broke the weather record for that date.
The mark of plus 19.6 degrees reached street thermometers in St. Petersburg on April 1. This is the maximum value for this date in the history of observations, said the city's chief forecaster, Alexander Kolesov. Previously, the palm of primacy was held in 2010: then it was 14.4 degrees.
"But this is only in the city center so, at the bay the temperature did not exceed 15-17 degrees, although it is also very warm and above the extreme," - wrote Kolesov in his Telegram channel.
Also the head of the regional Hydrometeorological Center reported that temperatures above the norm were also observed in the Leningrad region. Thus, in its southern districts for the first time this year thermometer columns rose above 20 degrees Celsius.
However, good weather will not linger in the city. Already by the middle of the week, a cold front will take the place of a warm front, and summer will be replaced by an "Arctic invasion". According to the forecast of the weather center "Phobos", the temperature will be below the average long-term values, frost and ice will return, and on Thursday night it will snow.
